As Bear and I have gotten to know people in our community, one of the couples we’ve gotten to know are The Samuelsons, who own a new restaurant called “Pitza 42“.
The restaurant has an incredible concept: For every (healthy & delicious) meal purchased from them, $.24 goes towards feeding children in 67 different countries who are starving. So a meal becomes not just for one, but for two.
Their motto is “Eat Good. Do Good.” And, in 6 months of business, Pitza 42 has raised enough to feed 50,000 children. One pizza at a time. And it’s necessary, because:
Over 18,000 children die every day of starvation or hunger-related issues.
For all the modern conveniences of our world, we have to know, that this is not okay.
Pitza 42 will be hosting a Mobilepack Event on April 13-14 for Feed My Starving Children (the organization that feeds the kids, if that wasn’t clear from the name). At the event, volunteers will hand-pack 100,000 nutritious meals to send overseas.
The response in our community has been overwhelming—a ton of people have signed up to spend 2 hours at a time, packing meals, feeding kids, loving children they will never, ever see.
This concept is amazing to me. Talk about making a difference in the world! It wasn’t enough for our friends to create a business, but it had to mean something. And it’s working! The community has really rallied around their restaurant–it always seems to be full!
So, instead of posting an outfit today, I just wanted to talk about this amazing restaurant, doing amazing things. My hope is that see more and more businesses with a mission like this!
(Pssst….Check out who’s at :19!)
